I received this rifle for restoration after it had been damaged by improper storage. It was rusted from butt to barrel, the stock had two long cracks and actually had mold growing on it.
The metal was cleaned, and then “Zinc Parkerised”.
The wood was bleached 3 times to kill the mold and even out the color. After bleaching the wood was stained so it would be period correct as if it had never been damaged. Given 3 coats of linseed oil, and 3 coats of “Tung” oil all rubbed in by hand.
The cracks have been repaired and are not even visible unless you knew they were there before.
This rifle actually IS an unrecycled as issued .30 carbine – brought home from the war and put in a closet. Where it deteriorated. I wish I had taken some “before Pictures” – but I forgot!!!
