Reliability Tuning a .45 ACP
The colt 1911 style autos should function reliably. When in tune they hum along as good as a modern design. Even Sig Sauer has this model in their line up. However not all manufactures know what it takes to make this arm really tick. Thats where a reliability tune-up comes in to play, believe it or not after over 100 years all of the lessons gunsmiths have learned about tuning these gems STILL have not been adopted by most of the manufactures.
If you are having challenges with your .45 rather than cuss it out, send it in and have it “Tuned” so it will run the way it is designed to run.
A reliability tune includes the following:
Ramp & Throat Barrel
Refit Barrel for Lock-up
Tune the Safeties
Stone the Trigger
Replace Magazine Springs with extra power springs
Test Fire with Hardball Ammo
When it is all done your 1911 will function the way it should and be a pleasure to shoot.
Its about a 5 hour operation, to do it all right, but well worth the $250.00.
